# Reset User Mfa

> Clear another user's 2FA enrollment so they can re-enroll on next login.

Used when a user loses access to their authenticator or the stored TOTP
secret becomes undecryptable (e.g. after rotating DATASET_TOKEN_SECRET).
Self-reset is forbidden, that would let an attacker who steals an admin's
password downgrade the admin's MFA. user_can_reach_user already prevents
admins from targeting owners or other admins.
